Basic Training: Dental Infection Prevention and Safety Course

A pre-conference educational course from May 31 - June 1 that covers the basics of dental infection prevention and patient safety. This course is designed for those who work in community health centers, FQHCs, and tribal health programs. It is perfect for those who:

new to dental infection prevention and safety or,
who want to build on, apply, or enhance existing knowledge or,
early in their career, making a career shift, or wanting a refresher.

Curriculum

The course curriculum is based on the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings-2003, the 2016 Summary of Infection Prevention Practices in Dental Settings: Basic Expectations for Safe Care, the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (1910.1030), and the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (1910.2000). Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, the curriculum will also cover the most up-to-date interim guidance and any related regulations. Participants gain an understanding of relevant infection control laws, regulations, guidelines, standards, and best practices. They will also get practical tips on how to implement them in their practice setting.
